Is Drinking Water Safe Bottled in Plastic?

February 19 to March 20 - Zodiac Sign: Pisces - Element: Water - Color: Violet

A day doesn't go by without a call from a customer asking about water. I know how they feel. I have the same questions. It has become increasingly obvious to conscious beings that if we are to remain healthy, we must have good clean pure water source. Water is after all the essence of life. When a dying person is coming close to the end of their life they stop eating and drinking. Not to starve themselves, but to dehydrate themselves in preparation to return to the salt of the earth. Because that is what we are: Water and salt, or in biochemical terms: ionic minerals in the form of matter being suspended in a water medium. On a biophysical level we are much more and so is water.

If you know anything about homeopathic remedies you know that these tinctures are fluid with the vibrational resonance of the healing herb or herbs transmitting these high vibrational messages to our body of fluid. Knowing this, it makes sense that removing the chemicals and pollutants from municipal water may biochemically remove the impurities, but it does not remove their vibration. We must consider the biophysical properties of the water. If high vibrational homeopathics can make us well then what does the low vibrational properties of purified tap water do to our body? This goes beyond the pH of water being the only factor.

A well known fact is that one rotten apple will spoil the entire barrel, the same can be said for low vibration water. Researchers such as Masaru Emoto, Doctor of Alternative Medicine and author of "The Hidden Messages in Water" and "The True Powers of Water", are proving to the world that water is conscious. Water holds memory, water can follow gravity while at the same time be pulled upward to the sun, it is impossible to hold running water in our hands, yet that same water can wear away the hardest rock. The human brain is 90% water, the human body is 77% water, liquid water is the most rare and precious substance in the universe. Freeze water and you can walk on it. There is water vapor is in every breath we take. Chemically speaking, water doesn't boil at the temperature science tells us it should. Instead of shrinking when cold, water expands. You can take a drop of water and turn it into a crystal, unique to all other crystals, thaw the crystal into the drop of water and when refrozen it will create the same crystal over and over again. Yes, water definitely has a memory.

So then what is the optimal drinking water? The water I recommend is Fiji water. Even though it doesn't have a super high pH (7.5 a little more alkaline than our blood) it does have silica, calcium and magnesium in the same chemical configuration as the fluid in our brain. It is hundreds of years old and is pollution free, according to Viti Limited, bottler of Fiji water. The source of Fiji water is an ancient aquifer in a remote part of the world. This water is highly filtered through hundreds of feet of volcanic rock and then has come to the surface on its own, no one had to drill for it. It is bottled at the source, so until you open a bottle no human has touched it. I am sure there are other pure sources for water that fit the criteria necessary for optimal human wellness. I just am not familiar with them. I like to go with what I know.

O-Kay, your next question is about the plastic bottle in which your pristine mineral water is delivered. Yes, glass would be optimal, however, we must be realistic. If you think that bottled water is expensive now, what do you think it would cost in glass? I have done some research, because I to have the same concern. Here is what I found out about the PET hard plastic bottles, the type used to package water. The main concern is; do plastic bottles contain any dioxins? The short answer is no.

What are dioxins? Dioxins are organic environmental pollutants sometimes referred to as the most toxic compounds made by mankind. They are a group of chemicals, which include 75 different chlorinated molecules of dibenzo-p-dioxin and 135 chlorinated dibenzofurans. Some polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) also are referred to as dioxin-like compounds. Exposure to dioxins can cause chloracne, a severe form of skin disease, as well as reproductive and developmental effects, and more importantly, liver damage and cancer. Even with all that, an on going debate rages on whether dioxins really do or do not cause cancer. I don't know if they cause cancer or not. The question we need to be asking is; Do dioxins have a low vibrational frequency? The answer to that question is yes. If our goal is to raise the vibration of our body, and dioxins have an extremely low vibration, then we need to avoid contact with that substance. However, it is a mute point when talking about PET plastic.

The confusion stems from an urban legend claiming that dioxins were used in the manufacture of plasticizers used in water bottles. The dioxin: N,N-Diethylhydroxylamine (DEHA) and diethylhexyl adipate which are shortstoppers used in photographic chemicals / inhibition of popcorn polymer formation / silicon rubber / stabilizer (polymerisation inhibitor) / urethane / antioxidant and antidiscolorant / DEHA can also be used as a raw material of medicals and as a weed killer (agent orange is a dioxin), a resin remover and bleaching agent of timber. DEHA is never used in any containers food and beverages will go into, including but not limited to, plastic water bottles.

Polyethylene terephthalate (aka PET, PETE or the obsolete PETP or PET-P) is a thermoplastic polymer resin of the polyester family commonly used for water and carbonated beverage bottles. PET provides very good alcohol and essential oil barrier properties, generally good chemical resistance (although acetones and ketones will attack PET) and a high degree of impact resistance and tensile strength. The orienting process serves to improve gas and moisture barrier properties and impact strength.

However, PET plastic bottles do become unsafe when reused. Bacteria can cling to the plastic and make subsequent drinking water unsafe and, in time, the plastic begins to break down making it an unsuitable container from which to drink. PET also can leach into the water if left in the heat for too long, for example; in a locked car parked in the sun on a hot summer day. This material does not provide resistance to high temperatures - max. temp. 160° F. The bottles are meant for storage from the source to you. After that they should be recycled and not reused. If you are concerned about the safety of plastic once open, transfer the water to a glass or suitable hard plastic container.

I would choose to drink pristine source Fiji water or another brand of certified artisan or spring water out of a PET plastic bottle, rather than carbon filtered tap water out of glass any day. Life is about choices. The best we can do is make the best possible choice with the information we are given at the time. If the information or situation changes down the road, we just make another choice. The most important thing is the path. As long as we have a clear goal and a desire to be whole and balanced, I believe when given a chance, we will always make the best choices possible for the situation at hand.

If you are in a situation where bottled water is not available or you wish not to have the expense, then what. The best choice for a good water filtration can be even more confusing. I don't care who you talk to, they all feel their distiller, reverse osmosis system, ionic filter, purifier, on and on are the best. If water has a memory, how do we ever make it forget? These are all questions you need to satisfactorily answer for yourself. I just don't know. Before I made the decision to drink bottled artesian water I drank distilled. But this is what I did to make it "alive" again. I believe that distillation is the best biochemical choice for pure water. The problem is that water needs to contain ionic minerals and or organic substances in order to be alive, because technically distilled water is dead. If we drink distilled water without adding minerals back into it, it will look for and attach itself to minerals where ever it can as it goes through your body.

I believe the best source for these ionic minerals is found in crystal rock salt. Not just sea salt but the sea salt from thousands of years ago. Free of pollutants, containing the perfect ratio of 87 ionic minerals (which by the way, happen to be the same as those found in the human body). Because the minerals are ionic they are also highly bioavailable. By adding a few large grains of crystal rock salt to distilled water, you have now made biochemically pure water biophysically available for use by the human body.

The bottom line; we need water to be alive. Even poor quality water is better than not drinking enough water. Water is natures detergent. Our bodies soon become like a stagnant pond if enough water isn't consumed. Flowing water is considered clean and clear by comparison. Drinking enough water is two fold. First, it replenishes much needed minerals. Second, it clears away waste. Our livers soon become quite toxic if enough water isn't flushed through. Just ask anyone on dialysis if they think kidneys are important.

The following is how I handle my water, there are other methods, this is just what I have chosen to do. My drinking water is Fiji water with a few drops of crystal rock salt solution added to it (the formula is in the book "Water & Salt"), I drink a minimum of 2 liters a day. I use distilled water for cooking (I own a five gallon Pure Water stainless steel steam distiller) and filtered water for bathing. I have a restructuring device made of crystals and copper on the water coming into the house and a whole house filter (you can buy one at any hardware store) to remove larger particulates. Then I have an Aquasana filter in all showers. Keep in mind our skin absorbs everything we put on it, as much if not more than what we drink. For that reason I do not take steaming hot showers and I limit my time to no more than ten minutes. The hotter the water the more open our pours, allowing in more pollution and chemicals, also chlorine vapors are a known carcinogen. Perhaps that is the reason hot showers are considered acid forming. Don't misunderstand, the water is comfortably warm. I am not ready for ice cold showers, nor do I think I ever will be. This is about balance and wellness not suffering and harshness to achieve perfection. If you are miserable and unhappy all of the time, living longer isn't a plus.

When I talk about not drinking municipal water, I am including all tap water, even well water. I was raised on well water. I love the taste. The problems with well water are the same as with municipal water - chemicals. Most well water is found in remote areas of the country, usually surrounded by farm land. There is no way of knowing how many farm and industrial chemicals have leached into the water table your well has tapped into. If you are going to drink well water, please get it checked for its chemical content before you continue to use it. It is possible that a toxic landfill 100 miles away could be compromising the purity of the water in which you drink and bathe, perhaps the farm up the hill has been using rat poison in the barn for the last 30 years, not to mention pesticides on the crops.

No other fluid will have the same healing and cleansing effect as pure water, not coffee, soft drinks, carbonated water, tap water, juice or tea. The formula for basic hydration is half of your body weight in ounces of water everyday. If you weigh 180 pounds then that means you should be drinking roughly 3 quarts/liters of water everyday, just for maintenance, more if you exercise or are in the sun, etc. The important thing is to not focus so much on the "perfect water" but rather on the importance of hydration itself. Drinking enough safe water puts new meaning on the old saying "cleanliness is next to godliness". Clean air, alive water and organic food is the best way to care for the vessel that contains the heart and spirit of who we truly are. The choices we make today will determine the types of choices we will be faced with in the future.
